PROGRAM: Paulette introduced our guest artist, Dale Laitenen... Dale is a renowned watercolor artist who was born in Minnesota and grew up in the mid west.  He graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in studio art. He lived in the Modesto area for several years before becoming a professional artist in 1985. His work is now displayed in five galleries in California and Nevada.  He is a member of the National Watercolor Society and will be producing a professional DVD this summer.

Several pieces of Dale’s art were on display. He explained that learning to draw was the essence of producing good paintings. He uses 300# Arches rough paper and to get away from framing with glass he has used an “AquaBoard?made by Ampersand that has a gallery wrap and need no framing.

He had prepared a 22 x 30 full sheet of watercolor paper the night before and had painted wet into wet to get a base. He then proceeded to sketch in his landscape. In his hour long demonstration Dale used a 3inch brush then a two inch a #8 or #6 was used for more detail work.

After the demonstration members were invited to come and look at the work he had started along with his other finished pieces.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 3:40pm.

NEXT MEETING Is MARCH 29th at 2:00pm
